3D Design, Modeling and Animation
3D modeling and animation is the art of creating worlds on computers in 3 mathematical dimensions, and projecting them into 2D. 3D modeling is no longer as costly and time consuming as it once was and we speed up the process considerably with our portable 3D scanner.
Much of what we can do was originally developed by teams of programmers working in the film industry. But every year sees some of these advances added to more affordable software. This means that every year, 3D becomes more accessible to the business world and therefore, more in demand.
As businesses take advantage of 3D modeling to showcase products still in the design stage, angles and interiors that can't be captured by video, and products in unlikely contexts, buyers' expectations increase. At this stage, you can't afford to ignore that your competitors are using 3D to sell houses, cars, telephones and everything else under the sun.
3D software is currently equipped to represent reality using a variety of styles and degrees of realism. It is comparable in price to video and incredibly versatile.
3D modeling has distinct advantages over alternatives like illustration and video. Once the model is made, you can
- Render it from any angle including from the inside or crane shots from on high.
- Change the background: make it look as if the set is outdoors or overseas.
- Replace one texture with another: give your client a realistic impression of what the building looks like in brick versus marble, or chrome and glass
- Add a new element to the set, or remove one: keep your graphics up to date without re-shooting an entire sequence.
- Avoid issues such as changing light and backgrounds over days of video shooting. No need either, to remove overhead planes, wires and unwanted elements.
3D for Sales and Marketing
3D models capture your product inside and out. Get your cameras in behind the machinery. Shift heavy equipment to one side. Cut windows into the most difficult substances. Defy gravity. Hide patented features from view or zoom into see them better.
Don't think you need 3D? These days competition is tough and anything you do that draws attention to your company and your product, raises you higher in the eyes of prospects, suppliers and the media. There is no question that video and animation have more appeal than still images and photos. 3D can seem utterly realistic while allowing for flights of fancy that extend the known world and spark the imagination. 3D can also be stylized to create a unique look that brands your company in the marketplace.
