The C.R. Visuals Portable 3D Scanner
Our 3D scanner is now available for museums and the general public. We are offering special pricing until the end of this year. Until December 31, you can get a high poly, high resolution (>600,000 polys) scan for the price of a low poly scan. That includes 8+ scans plus touchup for only $250. The figurine at left uses 175,000 polys.
This is what our 3d laser scanner can do for you:
Results:
- Clay and plasticine maquets (models ) are scanned into 3d models for 3d animation
- Objects are scanned into 3d for presentation on the Internet
- Historical and other precious artifacts are archived as a digital 3d record for reference at any time, by many visitors, in many venues from the web to kiosks, without damage.
- The modeling process of intricate pieces is faster and more accurate.
- 3D models can be converted for cutting on CNC machines.
Things to remember when scanning:
- Shiny objects are hard to scan, so if possible, coat the object in chalk powder or some equivalent.
- Make sure that the object to be scanned is as clean as possible, so that the scanner can capture a quality image which is then mapped onto the 3D model.
- The scanner is portable, so it is possible to scan the objects at your location.
Note: The scanner can only scan to within a few inches of the ground, so object should be displayed on a raised pedestal to get the most complete scan possible.
Approximate charges per model made using the scanner
Fine (high poly) model:
Scanning a 4" x 4" x 6 " model would cost approx $500
This includes 1 hour for scanning the model from a number of sides, plus registration and cleanup
Rough (low poly) Model:
Scanning a 4" x 4" x 6 " model would cost approx $250
This includes fewer scans and less detailed cleanup.
Scanning at your location: $90.00
CNC conversion: $30.00
