There was an urgency to getting the ILC operational to prove that online education could help adults gain diplomas.
With that in mind, we suggested ways to
- simplify the interface
- create greater consistency and
- clarify activities screen by screen.
To begin we
- read the government guidelines for high school courses
- reviewed the draft interface and navigation
- read the materials provided by the content experts
Then we created a style guide and a list of recommendations. Both the style guide and the suggestions were intended to provide actionable changes for the current design, and future best practices.

TV Ontario : ILC
Background: TV Ontario was mandated to create high school equivalency courses online. First year offerings included English and Math.
A team was assembled with excellent programming and web skills. Each course was written by an established expert. Much of the site was in-place when the project manager decided to get the input of an instructional designer.
TVOntario asked C.R.Visuals to take a look at the site and provide feedback and a style guide.
