Marketing and Communications

Integrated Marketing Communications or multi-channel communications refers to the need that all businesses face, to ensure that all communications, internal and external, exhibit consistent messages and branding.

Among traditional channels available to business are print and broadcast advertising, sales promotion, public relations, direct marketing, stationery, internal communications bulletins, posters, tradeshows, and newsletters. These have now been extended to cover websites, e-newsletters, email, online marketing through 3rd party sites, online social networks, advertising embedded in gaming, mobile marketing, and no doubt a number of arising technologies yet to be counted.

Of all industries, marketing and communications seem to be rapidly changing and it's important to keep abreast of trends, and respond to the changing ways in which your audience(s) receive your message(s).

An integrated marketing communications campaign has to be conceived over all of these different media. One way to handle this has been to bring on board a number of companies, each experienced in one or two media, and hope that continuity can be maintained by placing controls in the hands of one department or with an ad agency.
