DID YOU KNOW?
In a survey of businesses, researchers at Texas State University found that where natural light and plants were part of the environment, staff reported a higher quality of life. At C.R Visuals we believe natural light is important and our windowsills are filled with plants.
Ethics are intangible, cogent philosophies that guide us.
We believe that each person should be dedicated to, and focus on, his or her work. Aim for the best quality possible at all times and think each task through. Never neglect the wider context from which the job derives, nor the consequences of action.
We also believe a person should avoid doing harm and should try to give back more than they take. For that reason, we are proud of the work we did in 2005 for Project Ploughshares, and of our on-going sponsorship of a child through Foster Parents and our continuing support of Doctors Without Borders, WSPA, WWF, and Amnesty International.
C.R.Visuals has always followed the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle. We hope that one day digital technology will allow us all to reduce the amount of paper we consume. In the meantime, C.R. Visuals uses recycled paper and energy-efficient technology where feasible. We even shred paper and turn it into sculpture!
We are currently investigating our ink sources. Although we didn't know it, some inkjet inks ruin recycled paper by not washing out cleanly. Andrew Tribute of Print CEO Blog likens this to a red sock in a white wash. It is impossible to get the paper bright enough for use. He supports the idea of items being marked if they will not recycle and introduces readers to the European "International Association of the Deinking Industry" formed by European paper manufacturers in 1989. He links to their webpage on the state of deinking paper for multiple recycling: http://www.deinking.de/ingindxe/press/pr0801.html. The blog simply shows how difficult and important it is for individuals to be knowledgeable about and responsive to ethical and environmental issues. Just when you think you are doing good.....

We recycle computer parts and ink cartridges and make every effort to make things last. Our property is landscaped without unnecessary pesticides and herbicides. When they are needed, the chemicals we use are organic.
Our cleaning is done with green products. We supported Earth Hour and make it a practise to turn off equipment not in use.
Our building dates back to the 1920s, so it wasn't built for today's standards, but we are working to improve it's energy efficiency with new lighting and a timer on the HVAC.
We even shovel our own snow, including the parking lot. Everyone takes their turn. It's good for the enviroment and it's good for our health.
